The “As Close As You Can Get” photo assignment wanted us to look at common objects on the macro level. This assignment ended up being tricky for me — not because of its nature, but because one hand was nearly unusable due to a car accident earlier this week. Thankfully a tripod and remote shutter button solved most of that problem.
Not all of these ended up being quite as crisp or macro as I had hoped, but I’m still pleased with the results. If you’re stumped, I’ve listed what each image is at the end of this post.
The images are:
- Blueberries (thawed)
- Crocheted hat
- Ice crystals from frozen water inside a glass jug
- Salted green beans
- Gemstone pendant (I forget the exact type)
- Cat food
- Hair curlers
- My daughter’s hair (see below)
- Jingle bells on a pair of earrings
- Poinsettia leaf (only older photo I used)
- Lettuce
- Footboard on my bed
- Colored pencils
My daughter had wanted to be part of this assignment, so I obliged. Due to a longer exposure, I needed her hair to not move, so had to get creative. She’s a tad bummed that I took this photo of the setup right after she had stuck her tongue out for the picture. 😉
